Success on the German market

In many industries, gaining a foothold in the German market is considered a special challenge. And the word challenge is not to be seen here as a nice way of avoiding the word “problem”. The German market and German customers are a tough test for many brands, so as Frank Sinatra rightly said: “If you can make it there, you make it anywhere”. 

Of course, I am writing this because I can help you in this regard. Despite my French surname, I was born and raised in Germany, as the son of German parents and grandparents. Although this happened without my particular involvement, it has shaped me, and the years of influence by social norms have of course taken place unconsciously. I first realized how particular the Germans actually are in their habits of perception and decision-making when I started working for French, Chinese and US companies. And you become aware of it every day if, like me, you have been living happily in Spain for many years but of course have daily contact with German customers.

What does that mean? Let’s assume a brand wants to address German customers, whether they are tourists in their hotels or potential buyers of their brand, be it in their home market or in Germany. Which motives should the brand address? Which emotions are effective in communication, and which arguments should be avoided at all costs? To do this, I work with your marketing team, your advertising agency and other stakeholders to create a concept that is tailored to the conditions of your industry, your brand and your competition, as well as to the specifics of your potential customers. I present and discuss my results in a workshop and am happy to elaborate on them in great detail, right down to precise specifications for the visual language and concrete headlines.
